Elliot Marple founded Marple’s Letter in 1949
as an outgrowth of his freelance reporting for Business
Week and small trade newspapers. In addition
to publishing the letter every other week, Mr. Marple
represented Business Week as Seattle “stringer”
(non-employee correspondent) from the late 1940s until
his retirement in the early 1980s. Mr. Marple, who
died in 2001 just short of his 94th birthday, authored
several books. We have two available for sale:
"Man-at-a-Typewriter
Journalism: 50 Years Reporting Pacific Northwest
Business"
Elliot Marple wrote this book on the occasion of
the newsletter’s 50th anniversary in 1999.
We have copies available for $10.00, including taxes,
handling and postage to U.S. addresses.
"From My Journal:
A Reporter's Memoir"
Marple, who died in 2001 just short of
his 94th birthday, drew on his lifelong working
journal for his take and commentarry on a life that
spanned most of the 20th Century. We have copies
available for $20.00, including taxes, handling
and postage to U.S. addresses.
